For the short time I was farm sitting for Sha-Sha farm i had the privilege of learning about banana plantations. My tasks were simply,

• Setting up the labour force each and every morning along with supervising them through out the day.
• I also learned about diseases, fungi's and pests that affect the trees along with the fruits together with spray programs and fertilizing schedules.
• Once a week was sale day and I was in charge of inspecting the weight of bananas sold along with collecting petty cash.

As a part time assistant farm manager for New Day Farming LTD,

• I assisted in setting up labour forces of up to 30+ people and supervising them through out the day.
• I assisted in land prep e.g. Clearing of bush, Ripping, discing and rolling. Planting of Crops e.g. Soya Beans, Maize, and Sunflowers. harvesting of the previously mentioned crops as well.
• Assisted in running errands and oversaw selection and purchase of routine supplies and special equipment purchases.
• Identified pests, weeds and plants to determine appropriate selection of pesticides and fertilizers.
• I have learned and am confident to operate the following machinery/ equipment: All tractors big and small, Hyundai excavator, John Deere combine harvester 9770sts, disc, ripper, roller, grass mower, seed planter, spray boom and silage cutter.

I have worked on our family farm through out my teenage years helping my dad with all aspects of crop farming during my school holidays and on a part time basis during my first year out of school.

While Farm sitting for Zamac i was in charge of supervising the labour force during the day along with setting up fertigation programs and implementing them through the fertigation system for the macadamia trees. I got to learn about a few pests and diseases during the time as well.
