Background

The Zambia Integrated Systems Strengthening Program (ZISSP) was a four-and-a-half-year USAID-funded, Abt Associates-led project which increased the use of quality, high-impact health services through a health system strengthening approach in Zambia.The ZISSP team employed interventions to strengthen processes and capacity at all levels of the health system, while simultaneously enhancing access to and use of high-impact health services.

These services addressed malaria, family planning, HIV and AIDS, and maternal, newborn, and child health and nutrition. ZISSP collaborated with communities to encourage the use of public health services by Zambians and their families.

Background

Read to Succeed was a USAID funded institution with the aim of providing interventions in literacy using the Early Grade Reading Tools/ Assessment (EGRA) which were predominately ICT materials. The institution/ project had an understanding with the Ministry of General Education and provides interventions through the capacity building of early grade learners (grades 1,2 &3), teachers and head heard teachers. The project had interventions in 5 provinces of Zambia and its intervention schools are in the rural communities.

  • Provided leadership support to the team in conducting the baseline i Northern Province.
  • Assess literacy levels of pupils in rural areas using Early Grade Reading Assessment tools.
  • Provided support in data collection, data verification as well as in ensuring effective management.
