CHIKUMBI CHAMBULA

The main role of this position is ensuring smooth running and management of the pharmacy by ensuring continues supply of medicines and medical supplies to the community and execution of the duties of an 8-star pharmacist

Patient care

• Evaluates appropriateness of medication therapy in accordance with established protocols or guidelines.
• Conducts tests that include malaria, blood sugar, HIV tests and blood pressure checks on clients
• Responds to symptoms in the pharmacy by offering both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical interventions
• Patient counselling on both lifestyle and pharmaceutical care

Managerial duties

• Maintains pharmacy compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements
• Maintains stock levels through timely procurement of appropriate medicines and medical supplies
• Oversees the general operations and ensuring smooth running of the pharmacy through auxiliary stuff management
• Upholds standard operating procedures in the pharmacy
• Participates in programs that bridge health care needs through collaboration with Non-governmental organisations such as ZAM-Health contraceptives programme

• Conducted field data collection and data entry
• Maintained accurate research project documentation, including research plans, data collection procedures, evaluations conducted and analysis plans
• Conducted quality checks on data collected from fieldwork to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Assisted in the production of research deliverables such as research reports, and presentations
• Provided research support to various teams and departments, including assisting researchers in conducting and managing evaluation and research projects
• Organized and analyzed qualitative and quantitative data using kobo data collection tool

The role of this position was to bring into practice patient tailored clinical pharmacy, ensuring patients/clients receive the best pharmaceutical health care in various departments of the hospital.
Dispensary Department

• Dispensed medications on prescriptions and drug charts while ensuring the right meducine and dose in the right formulation is delivered timely to the patients.
• Assisted in ensuring equitable delivery of primary healthcare services to ensure health coverage even to the underserved populations.
• Developed and evaluated patient pharmaceutical care plans to ensure patient safety and wellbeing.
• Compounded medications according to doctor's orders using appropriate equipment and supplies
• Inspected expiration dates on products to ensure they met safety standards.
• Participated in continuing education activities to stay up-to-date on new developments in the field of pharmacy.

Procurement and logistics department

• Maintained adequate stock status with the help of Logistics management information systems
• Ensured proper storage of medicines and medical supplies including allied substances and cold chain products
• Ensured a continuous flow of the hospital supply chain management
• Ordered medicines and medical supplies through Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMSA)
• Procured medicines and medical supplies through local purchase and supply

Anti-Retroviral Therapy Department

• Counselled patients both affected and infected clients through the ART department
• Dispensed Anti-Retrovirals to patients while ensuring all the health goals are met
• Collected data using Health Management Information Systems about patients health conditions and used it to make informed decisions concerning the patients.
