1. To promote and safeguard the interests of the Union and the members.
2. To settle disputes between the employer and the employees and among members of the Union.
3. To secure better and reasonable salaries for all members of the Union.
4. To ensure members' participation in all national development programs.
5. To train trade union leaders at all levels for responsible and effective leadership, advancement of members' education and imparting skills to the members in preparation for their retrenchment or retirement.
6. To ensure that all members acquire knowledge and certification in worker education before taking up such duties at National level.
7. To negotiate with the employer for improved conditions of service for the members.
8. To mediate in disputes between the employer and members, and any other persons so as to have an amicable settlement whenever possible.

10. To preserve the Union's rights and privileges and to ensure that members perform their duties and obligations without undue influence or coercion from the employer.
11. Supervise all staff and shall be responsible to the President and National Executive Committee for the running of the Union and keep the minutes of the Quadrennial Conference, Extra-ordinary Conference and the National Council.
12. To make appointments and recommend for approval to the National Executive Committee any member of staff's appointment and staffing position of members of staff as defined in their conditions of service.
13. To be responsible for convening of meetings, sending notices, agendas and recording of proceedings as well as the maintenance of the records,
(i) To run the day to day activities of the Union at the Secretariat as i was in charge of administrative and organization functions.
(ii) To undertake any other duties as assigned by the General Secretary and the National Executive Committee or any other duties so delegated.
1. Assess and collect correct taxes and duties.
2. Ensure enforcement of relevant statutory provisions.
3. Facilitate international trade, and advise on aspects of tax policies. 4. Examining entries for determining classifications, values and origin of goods.
5. Determining physical inspections of goods and motor vehicles for valuation and classification purposes.
6. Capturing and analyzing scanner images as well as report challenges with scanner for prompt resolution.
