Summary

Mr. Francis Sakala has a Diploma and Certificate (Dip and Cert) in Natural Resources Management from Southern African Wildlife College, South Africa. He further has a Certificate in Natural Resource Management from Rhodes University in South Africa, a Certificate in Gender Mainstreaming from COWI Centre, Copenhagen in Denmark, a Certificate in Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) Methodologies from NRDC, In-Services Training Trust in Lusaka, Zambia and a host of Certificates of Attendance in Training of Trainers in Wildlife Quota Setting, WWF SARPO, in Community Based Natural Resource Management, WWF SARPO and in Training and Support for Community Based Natural Resources Management.

Sakala has strong field based hands-on Community Organization, Institution building and facilitation skills with more than 10 years of experience in Community Based Natural Resource management, whilst working with Community Based Organisations which includes; Community Resources Boards (CRBs), Village Action Groups (VAG), Community Forest Management Groups (CFMGs), women’s (Gender Awareness Campaign Groups), HIV/AIDS awareness campaign groups, livelihood and income generating activities and also working with Primary Schools in Environmental Education activities and capable of adapting to new situations and multi-cultural environments.

Extra Curricula involvement included but not limited to President of Student Representative Council (SRC) at the Southern African Wildlife College and part time, also worked as Project Coordinator with ECG BIOPAMA Project and at same time, acted as an Executive Director with Zambia CBNRM Forum.   • Provision of on ground assistance and monitoring of Community Based/Organisations/ Institutions such as CRBs, CFMGs and VAGs
  • Participation in facilitation of institution development and building of capacity of CBOs such as CFMGs, CRBs, VAGs and other related CBO/CBIs to respond to changes in responsibilities and operational mandates.

  • Lead project work planning, ensuring that annual and monthly plans align with project objectives and the overall project work plan while adopting an adaptive approach to modify plans where necessary.
  • Coordinate the implementation of work plans ensuring that the different activities are implemented as planned and are well aligned with activities of partners and collaborators at site and national levels
