This made it possible for ZESCO to remotely monitor and supervise the export and import of power with NAMPOWER through the Sesheke – Zambezi Line Participated in establishing the IEC 60870-5-104 communication link between the National Control Centre (NCC) and the Power Station automation system at Kariba North Bank Power Station. This involved setting up the communication link through optic fibre, installing and configuring the gateway computers which are running on UNIX, addressing the signals in the gateways and establishing the link between the gateways and the telecommunication equipment using optic fibre. This made it possible to remotely monitor and supervise the power generation at Kariba North Bank Power station Managed and supervised the integration of Bay Control Unit using IEC61850 to the existing substation control system for Transformer T2A bay at Leopards Hill 330kV substation. This involved configuration of protection, control and monitoring signals for transformer T2A in the Bay Control Unit, Human Machine Interface (HMI) and the central system at NCC.
