Forecasting Dissertation

A comparative study between the ARIMA model and Technical Analyses to forecast stock market prices

The aims and objectives of this study were both achieved. The models used provided a good fit to the data and they did help to outperform the market. The forecasted market prices obtained from the ARIMA model mimicked the real time prices while Technical Analysis helped in the prediction of the movement of the prices. By having the technical know-how of these two models, losses through the stock markets were minimized, it was also observed that these two models could not be compared but instead could be used hand in hand to generate maximum profit and minimize losses. The use of both indicators increased the accuracy of the predictions of both the stock market prices and movements.
