  • Labelled case records case numbers for easy retrieval of the files and using different colors of file jackets to distinguish the files by the year they were created

  • Rob the Judge for hearings of Civil Trials and Criminal matters in open Court
  • Responsible for requesting for Sessions for allowances and fuel and making all arrangements for travel, accommodation and other matters when proceeding on circuits for the Judge and her accompanying staff
  • And during the Session the Marshal should see to it that all the matters necessary to bring the session to a conclusion
  • Responsible for preparing a report and a Certificate of Session after the Session
  • Stamp and Seal Rulings and Judgments delivered by the Judge from the Principle Registry and distribute them to the parties
  • To keep, take custody and maintain the criminal exhibits produced during a Criminal Trial and dispose of thereof after the completion of the Trial
  • Prepare an Acquittal notifications for the accused persons that have been Acquitted by the Judge
  • Prepare letters of suspension of driver’s licenses to Road Traffic and safety Agency (RTSA) for the accused persons in Causing Death by Dangerous Driving criminal cases
  • Preparation of Certificate of Sentence of Death after the Court declares the death sentence on an accused person in a Criminal matter
  • Swear in witnesses on oaths in trials before the court
  • Perform other clerical duties relating to the proceedings of the court as the judge shall direct
  • Make sure all hand written proceedings and typed proceedings are placed on the Courts Record for easy reference
  • Communicate to the litigants and lawyers on behalf of the Court
  • Prepare Quarterly Returns for the Court
  • Receive case records allocated to the Judge, record the files in the incoming register for case files and Keep track of case files
  • Take files to Data room for scanning after Court Sittings
  • Update files on trim after every Court sitting.
