While working as a Technical Supervisor under BIA Zambia, KASCCO Mining, and BIA Management asked me to act as the Mechanical Engineer and maintain my duties as a supervisor. I took up the challenge, and the following are my duties:

  • Managing the maintenance department as a whole, including budgeting, resource allocation.
  • Ensuring that the fleet of 14 CAT 777 trucks, 10 Komatsu 785 trucks, 7 excavators, and 5 dozers are well maintained to the respective OEM standards, in line with Mine Regulation 210. This not only involves meticulous planning, but also commitment to the plan.
  • Ensuring at least 70% availability to help keep production afloat.
  • Development of maintenance KPIs that were meant to maximize the maintenance team's performance, ensure the reliability of equipment, and control the meantime between failures, showcasing my ability to make strategic plans and sound decisions that are data-driven.
  • Logbook appointments for foremen, as well as signing entries and ensuring that foremen comply with the provisions of Mining Regulation 214.

  • Ensuring that the customer's equipment is maintained to OEM standards by planning for and executing services on time, carrying out major component changeouts, etc.
