  • Review medical condition of patient with doctor in order for proper analysis of progress and use the history to develop future diagnostic plans.

  • Carry out procedures such as installation of catheters and feeding tubes.
  • Ensure all patients are monitored routinely for sudden changes using specialized equipment such as monitors and infusion pumps.
  • Attending to conditions requiring invasive or non-invasive procedures such as CPAP.
  • Triage critically ill patients and priority was given to patients color coded red. They were attended to immediately using the bundle care - ABCD.
  • To be alert and respond promptly to any change in patients condition and report risk assessment the doctor on duty.
  • Ensure correct emergency and other drugs are available by ordering and collecting from pharmacy. Also ensuring proper storage and noting respective expiry dates.
  • Plan and ensure adequate staffing for every shift and make informed decision just in case.
  • Be familiar with all patient hospital documentation, completing correctly entered in patient’s file.
  • Carry out procedures such as open suctioning and intubation for patients who have to be sustained on ventilators. Able to adjust settings on the ventilator depending on critical illness.
  • Ensure critically ill patients are treated with honor and dignity, confidentiality and privacy whenever a procedure is being done.
  • Attend medical rounds in hospital and review/progress meetings as maybe required.
  • Offer solidarity and support to the patient and family.
  • Lead by example and provide necessary procedural guidance to subordinates.
