· Clinical care: Provide timely assessment of patients including history-taking and physical examination. Order appropriate initial investigations and provide initial treatment.

Facilitate timely referral of patients requiring specialised management to the next level of care.

· Capacity building: Undertake effectively the development and implementation of capacity building programs such as clinical meetings, mortality audits and review meetings in order to impart appropriate skills and knowledge in practitioners such as

clinicians, nurses, students and other support staff.

· Management, technical support and mentorship: Ensures effective management of human, financial and other resources in order to facilitate achievement of goals and objectives. Provide mentorship and supervision to local teams in the facility.

· Quality improvement: Undertake effectively performance assessment and undertakes quality improvement audits in order to ensure adherence to the set standards and improve service delivery.

· TeleECHO facilitation: Facilitate teleECHO capacity building meetings as a member of the taskforce.

· Monitoring, evaluation and reporting: Undertake periodically monitoring and evaluation of clinical care programs in order to facilitate implementation of appropriate interventions and prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.

• Attend to patients referred by junior colleagues such as clinical officers, nurses and junior resident medical officers.
• Refer patients to specialists at higher level hospitals as necessary.
• Provide clinical mentorship and on-the-job trainings to subordinates in areas of need to medical students, clinical officers, nurses, junior resident medical officers and other health staff at the hospital and rural health centres within the sub-district.

• Participate in major ward rounds conducted by the Consultant Head of unit.

• Successfully completed rotations in the four major clerkships i.e. Paediatrics, Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics & Gynaecology with rotations in sub-units like. Neonatal, infectious diseases, malnutrition and renal sub-units.

• Oriented in basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS)

• Obtained full registration as a Medical Doctor with Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).

• Appointed as Senior Resident Medical Officer.
