- The information is entered into a tablet during the interview and is relayed to a central server where it is analyzed in order to provide a probable cause of death
- Assigning ICD 10 codes to all inpatient deaths for the purposes of improving collection of information on cause specific mortality
- Physicians and FMSOs in participating facilities will be training in ICD-10 coding principles using IRIS, a software for assigning ICD-10 codes
