The secondment purpose was to improve the Enterprise Dispatch Team's effectiveness and efficiency, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and high standards. It requires a combination of strategic leadership, technical expertise, and a hands-on approach to guide this young team toward elevated output and confidence in the SmartFleet FMS.

Conduct a comprehensive gap analysis on current dispatch functions. Identify areas of inefficiency and benchmark against best practice standards. Develop strategies and action plans to address gaps, aiming for high-standard operational output.

Assess the current org structure and individual roles. Provide recommendations for modifications if necessary to ensure alignment with the team's goals and objectives. Set clear position goals and KPIs for team members to achieve desired outcomes aligned to the Gap Analysis action plan.

Develop daily performance targets and requirements for the dispatch team. Implement monitoring mechanisms to track achievement of these targets, providing real-time feedback and course corrections as necessary. Ensure targets align with the broader GA objectives.

Analyse current usage of the SmartFleet FMS. Identify underutilized features and functionalities and develop strategies to enhance usage. Advocate for the system's capabilities, clarifying its value and potential compared to high-precision GPS FMS. Encourage team buy-in and motivation to utilize SmartFleet to its fullest extent.

Provide hands-on coaching and mentoring to junior dispatchers. Oversee their work, provide feedback, and address issues as they arise. Develop a training plan to improve their skills and capabilities, focusing on enhancing their ability to manage and control FMS tasks.

Take the lead in dispatch operations. Set the pace for the team by exemplifying a high standard of work and decision-making. Encourage a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
