Nexus Energy and Water Programme in Zambia (NEWZA) (European Union, KfW, GIZ, UNICEF)

• Responsible for ensuring gender and social inclusion in all project preparation documents for various program components (PV solar, water supply extension and pump replacement, standalone rural water supply reticulation systems and Capacity Development-TA) , processes and designs informed by generated primary and secondary data.
• Conducting a social, economic and gender profiling and a rapid gender analysis to understand barriers and opportunities for women and youth access to and participation in governance, labour force and grievance processes and in WASH governance.
• Using the gender analysis results to advise the program team to ensure the that all program component documents , prepared designs and tender dossiers have adequately addressed gender and social safeguards.
• Incorporating gender in the Environmental and Social Safeguards Management Framework with clear procedures for gender and social inclusion in project implementation and grievance mechanisms.
• Leading the development of the WASH Program concept targeted at improving WASH in health facilities and schools, and sanitation and hygiene promotion in growth centres.

Gender Profiling and WASH needs assessment in Lusaka. (Lusaka Sanitation project).

• Conducted a gender profiling and WASH needs assessment in Chawama Compound to identify and profile the community with regards to extent of child-headed households, elderly disability and women headed households and their WASH access needs to inform the design and implementation of gender-responsive and inclusive WASH interventions under the Lusaka Sanitation Project.

Gender Political Economy Analysis for Climate Change and Water Security- Africa Investment Program (AIP) Study.

• Collected and analyzed primary and secondary data.
• Drafted preliminary report for three country AIP study (Zambia, Mozambique and Botswana).
• Contributing and participating in Policy Dialogue workshop for gender transformative investment and programming in climate and water security in Southern Africa held in Lusaka.

• Oversaw the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation and the peri-urban Water and Sanitation Programs, including the scale-up implementation of the Open Defecation Free Strategy. Ensuring that cross-cutting issues of gender and social inclusion were mainstreamed throughout the programmes cycles.
• Initiated the development of an electronic gender-responsive M&E system for urban WASH monitoring as supported its design. Produced detailed reports outlining key issues and proposed solutions.
• Coordinated work or project dedicated to raise awareness of need, applying strong project, and team leadership to enhance success.
• Planned, developed, and implemented strategies to convey WASH information with key decision makers.
