8. Study Nurse on Pfizer Sponsored study entitled: Phase3, Randomized Open-Labeled comparative Trial of Azithromycin versus Mefloquine for the Treatment of Uncomplicated Plasmodium Falciparum Malaria in Africa.

COMPANY - TROPICAL DISEASES RESEARCH CENTRE (TDRC)

TDRC is a national institution for research, training and service delivery in the diseases of public health importance in Zambia. Established in 1981 initiated by World Health Organization (WHO).

EXPECTATIONS - I am employed to work in an outpatient clinic (Walking in clinic) as a Registered Nurse Midwife. This include: Registering patients, carrying out vital signs and preparing them for Doctor’s visit. I ensure Doctor’s orders are carried out such as drug administration and assign review date.

I am expected to participate in Clinical research as a study coordinator, research nurse or research assistant in Quantitative and Qualitative studies.

Study protocol and Good Clinical Practice oriented

Supervisory duties of my fellow nurses and cleaning personnel.

• It includes, assigning duties to the staff under my care, assisting Clinicians and Medical Doctors.
• Assist in the care of ambulant and non-ambulant patients, carrying out of vital signs.
• Assist new nurses.
• Provide antenatal care and family planning services.
• Provide psycho social counseling to clients testing for HIV and those People leaving with HIV/AIDS.
• I ensure cleaning material is available in order to keep the clinic clean and infection free.
• Manage infection prevention.
• I assist in collecting samples from patients and sending them to the main laboratory.
• Ensure safe keeping of Clinical Records for each study in lockable cabinets and ensure confidentiality of study participants.
• Participate in compiling and sharing monthly data on preventive and curative care to the District Health management Team.
• Ensure monthly timely reports.
• I train Nurses in Covid sample collection.

FROM 2003 TO 2005

COMPANY - Mushili Government Health Clinic under District Health Team (MOH)

EXPECTATIONS - I was expected to provide Community nursing care, Clinic management role and supervisory duties.

· Provided supervisory duties to Nurses and paramedic staff.

· Provided outreach services in the community.

· I participated in national massive vaccination and deworming campaign.

· Conducted under five children health services, family planning and Antenatal services.

· Participated in the prevention of endemic and pandemic out breaks, Promoted health education.

FROM 1996 TO 2003

COMPANY - NDOLA TEACHING HOSPITAL (NTH)

· EXPECTATIONS- I was expected to carry out bed making, dump dusting of various ward surfaces, bed side nursing, specific and total Nursing care to both critical and non-critical patients. I provided wound care for post op and cancer and patients.

· I provided medication and carried out vital signs.

· I ensured beds had clean linen.

· I carried out Nasal gastric tube feeding and compassionate care to the dying ones.

· Team work.
