We, the members of the ST MONICA YOUTH CHOIR, united by our faith and commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church, establish this Constitution to guide and inspire our communal life. Rooted in the love of Christ and the teachings of the Church, we seek to foster a vibrant and supportive community that enriches the spiritual, intellectual, and social growth of its members. We pledge to uphold the values of unity, respect, and charity in all our endeavours. Guided by the principles of the Catholic faith, we are dedicated to living out the Gospel through service, prayer, and education. Through this Constitution, we commit to promoting the mission of the Church and creating an environment where every member can grow in faith and contribute to the greater good of our Parish, our community and beyond. In solidarity and with the grace of God, we affirm our dedication to this mission, ensuring that our actions reflect the love and teachings of Christ and the guidance of our Catholic faith.

PARISH YOUTH CHOIR CONSTITUTION, We, the members of the ST MONICA YOUTH CHOIR, united by our faith and commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church, establish this Constitution to guide and inspire our communal life. Rooted in the love of Christ and the teachings of the Church, we seek to foster a vibrant and supportive community that enriches the spiritual, intellectual, and social growth of its members. In solidarity and with the grace of God, we affirm our dedication to this mission, ensuring that our actions reflect the love and teachings of Christ and the guidance of our Catholic faith., DIVINE MERCY YOUTH CHOIR, The choir shall sing at all liturgical functions by leading the congregation to achieve its divine goal., Shall provide a forum where all youths with interest in singing interact for their mutual benefits, morally, socio-economically, spiritual, culture etc., Shall contribute to the growth and progress of the church., To help deepen the faith, love and hope in God in all choir members and church at large., This is open to all Catholic youths with an intention of serving God through singing., 18-35 years with an exception for TOMS who meet the standards of the youth after assessing them., Those willing to join have to sign in the registration form and pay membership fee after an approval by the choir executive., Every choir member is obligated to pay annual membership fee at the beginning of the year., Death, Expulsion on the grounds of indiscipline or violation of the code of conduct and absence for 3 consecutive months without justifiable reasons., Transfer or resignation., Withdraw from Catholic church., Right to vote or be voted for., To be visited in times of sickness., To be treated with equality and given opportunity for personal and spiritual development., To be contributed for an event for wedding., Bereavement benefits., To attend all choir programs., Red, Purple, White, Choir director, Choir master/mistress, Chair person, Vice chairperson, Secretary general, Vice secretary, Treasurer, Vice treasurer, Social committee, Disciplinary committee, Leads all choir activities., Plans and organizes choir practices., Works with the liturgical committee to choose appropriate songs., Trains and mentors choir members., Assigns voice parts and leadership roles within the choir., Ensures that songs are within the Catholic liturgical guidelines., Works hand in hand with the choir executive of the day., Must have a good grasp of Catholic liturgy., Must have musical qualities of singing techniques, tonality, choral literature, sound differentiation, pitch relativity, conducting keyboard facility, good disposition, punctuality and regularity., Shall exhibit manageability and self-control., Training the choristers., Arrange rehearsals and programs for the choir., Attend meetings for the liturgical committee, pastoral council and choir master forum., Be a signatory to the choir., The role of the Chair person is an elected position appointed from the membership of the choir., The Chair must be of good standing and promote the interest of the choir., The Chair shall be the official spokesperson of the choir in consultation with the director., The Chair will preside in all meetings., The Chair will oversee the democratic decision making of the choir., The Chair ensures that the choir meets its aims and objectives., Attend liturgical committee meetings and workshops related to liturgy and music., Shall deputize on behalf of the chairperson., Shall work in collaboration with the treasurer., Handles all letters and communication., Prepares meeting agendas., Makes announcements at gatherings., Takes meeting minutes., Steps in as Chairperson if needed., Prepares annual reports., Assists the secretary., Acts as a secretary in absence of the secretary., Keeps a calendar of events., Prepares a yearly budget., Prepares financial reports and keeps records of money received and spent., Leads in fundraising programs., Releases money only after approval by 3 leaders., Monthly financial reports., Gives collection through the secretary., Assisting in the works of the top treasurer., They will be responsible for organizing instruments, uniform and spearheading social programs., To maintain and sustain the discipline of the choir and to attend and resolve disciplinary issues., The parish council or the spiritual director will choose the matron and patron for the choir. These people should be active parishioners with good moral standards and should be willing to support the objectives of the choir, support the choir financially, morally, and spiritually., The tenure shall be two calendar years, an elected officer can only function in the same office for two terms only., Elections shall be conducted every after two years. Two representatives from the liturgical committee or parish choir will be the returning officers. A bye-election shall be conducted if any office is declared vacant, before the bye-election is conducted a caretaker can be appointed by the executive. Only eligible members following liturgical guidelines shall be voted for., Every after two months. Shall comprise all officers of the choir. Four officers present shall form a quorum. Emergency meetings can be held depending on the situation., Shall be held once in 3 months although emergency meetings can be arranged for urgent reasons. Ordinary decisions shall be reached by simple majority of votes. 5 officers and one third of the members present shall constitute the quorum., Shall be the first general meeting of the year. The agenda will include evaluation of the previous year performance, presentation of the action plans, secretarial and financial report, election and dissolution of the house depending on the year., Practices will be held twice a week when there is no Sunday program, Sunday is not optional regardless of the week program., Membership fee, Monthly contributions, Donations, Wedding fee, Other fundraising programs, The choir shall operate an account (mobile money) or saving in the youth council account. The signatories shall be the treasurer, secretary and chairperson. Notification for transaction must not be domiciled with one signatory., The parish priest shall be the spiritual director. Otherwise, he may appoint anyone as he deems fit. He shall coordinate the spiritual and religious activities for the spiritual growth of the choristers., Each member of the choir shall conduct him/herself in keeping with the choir expected standards, as stated by the musical director and as laid down in the Constitution as rules and regulations., Any choir member should conduct him/herself as a model for others., Members should show reverence and respect to God when in church by refraining from socializing and idle talking. If found, the disciplinary committee will punish you as deemed fit., Punctuality: members should report for rehearsals, mass and all choir activities at the designated times. FAILURE to comply, rehearsals - K10 (kneeling), mass - K20 (after Kyrie consider yourself late). All members have to be seated before mass starts., Give undivided attention and respect to the director/choir master/mistress at all times. FAILURE to comply, the choir master, mistress, director has the right to punish., Turn off/silent the phone during rehearsals and mass., Choristers should observe mutual respect for each other at all times. DISRESPECT, ABUSIVE LANGUAGE, GOSSIP, VIOLENCE AND INSUBORDINATION (Disciplinary committee will punish as deemed fit)., Moral sense of dressing at all times - NO shorts, sleeveless and shorts dress/skirt above knee - VIOLATION (sent back)., Drunkenness - direct suspension (duration, as deemed fit)., Missing Sunday singing programs for 3 consecutive times without justifiable reasons - K50 (PENALTY FEE)., In an event of conduct violation: depending on the code violated, the executive and the DC will reprimand, advise, fine or suspend., Singing, prayer, funeral services before and on the day of burial., Fixed amount shall be contributed and donated., Irrespective of where the chorister will be buried, all members should attend the requiem mass., Singing and prayers before and on the day of burial., Choristers should attend the requiem mass - optional., Contributions will be made and donated., All choristers shall participate in the services as agreed by the parish choir executive., All choristers shall attend and participate during the requiem mass., A quorum for amending the Constitution shall be 50% of the choir members., Amendments of the Constitution shall only be made in a special meeting convened for that purpose in a general meeting.
