Summary

Accomplished Development Practitioner with tested team leadership spanning over 20 years. I have specifically worked in areas of Food systems and Livelihoods, wildlife and habitat conservation, Community based natural resource management, partnership and grants management. I have managed partnerships with government departments, NGOs, CBOs and traditional leaders in promoting development and ensure active participation especially for communities that are excluded from national decision-making processes due to barriers caused by structural arrangements and harmful gender norms in society. I also have been involved in policy analysis and engagement across different programmatic areas such as environment, agriculture, gender, social and economic issues. I have a very good understanding and appreciation of the national context across the different areas of the economy, political and cultural. Over the past 20 years, I have worked in different settings with different development organisations and private sector such as Dunavant Zambia Ltd (Private sector), Programme Against Malnutrition (PAM), International Development Enterprise (IDE), Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Worldfish (Research organisation) and now Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) (conservation organisation). Through my work, I have provided results-oriented leadership in designing, implementing and managing various projects that contribute to creating enabling environment to improve livelihood, build resilience for smallholder farmers and empowering marginalised communities to participate in decision making processes. I have also played a key role in sustaining the resource base through strategic fundraising initiatives of the organisation. I am currently providing oversight to projects with funding from KFW, USAID, EU, WWF networks focusing on conservation Agriculture, CBNRM Livelihood Initiative Enterprises, wildlife management and restocking specifically around within and surrounding areas (GMA) of Sioma Ngwezi and Kafue National Parks.   • As the Project Manager I lead project level development and implementation of work plans in collaboration with WWF staff, various stakeholders and the local communities.
  • I am a supervisor of 7 direct staffs ensuring efficiency and effective implementation of project activities and monthly reporting updates to the donor.
  • I work with the team and stakeholders to develop the training materials on Agroecology, herding for health (H4H), value chain, Conflict to Coexist ( C2C).
  • Working together with the KAZA ARISE Regional office I have taken a leading role to supervise and ensure validation, review and getting feedback from the community on the draft grievance reporting structure developed by the ESSF consultant and facilitating the selection of ombudspersons.
  • I act as the WWF Zambia focal point person on the food practice and represent WWF Zambia at local and international food systems scientific forums that include the KAZA Agroecology Working Group (AE_WG) Food Think Tank (FTT), Food4Transformation, Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) among others.

  • As Field Program Coordinator, I was responsible for programme coordination and implementation in line with the organisation’s approach.
  • I was responsible for designing local level initiatives to promote empowerment of local communities in food security, management of natural resources and advocacy efforts aimed at strengthening responsiveness by government to the problems of the local people.

  • At WorldFish I worked for the CGIAR Research Program on Aquatic Agricultural Systems (AAS) which seeks to empower local communities through food security and poverty reduction.
  • I worked with government and traditional leadership to review policies on natural resource management and local governance to create an enabling environment for people participation in decision making and management of their resources.
  • Within the Aquatic Agricultural System (AAS) program I was also responsible for facilitating value chain analysis to ensure increased participation of vulnerable groups of famers/fishers in the fish and rice value chains and enhancing the chains equitability and improving availability and use of market information; and better linkages with service providers.
  • I worked closely with Ward Development Committees, DDCC, Fisheries Department and Barotse Royal Establishment to promote livelihoods among local people by harnessing productivity and linkages to markets through the value chain approach.
  • I was responsible for designing and leading the monitoring and evaluation and impact assessment of pro-poor, gender transformative and sustainable value chain initiatives and market development.
  • I facilitated the emergence of innovation platforms by brokering alliances among value chain actors and stakeholders: bringing partners together and negotiating working relationships.
