METALLURGICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
➢ Total nickel, nickel sulphide, organic carbon and MGO analysis
➢ Determination of Acid soluble copper by AAS, Acid Insoluble matter in copper concentrates and Total Copper, Iron and Nickel in Metallurgical Plant Products.
➢ Determination of Total copper by short iodide method in metal sales samples and Total Carbon and Sulphur using Leco machine.
➢ Volumetric determination of Iron in Process samples, pH in process plant and water samples and available lime in quick and hydrated lime.
ENVIRONMENTAL WATER ANALYSIS
· Turbidity analysis in water, PH analysis, Total suspended solids analysis· Conductivity analysis, Metals in water analysis by AAS. Bacteriological analysis and Total resolved solids analysis
OTHER AREAS OF WORK
➢ Calibration of Analytical balances, operation and analysis of samples on Xepos XRF
➢ Preparation of AAS calibration solutions from the stock solution, Usage of carbon and sulphur analyzer instruments leco and Creation of jobs online in LIMS and usage of the AAS
➢ Proficient in using the following equipment: Xepos XRF, AAS, Leco Machine and ICP OES
➢ Analyzing of Moisture Content, Voltage – Breakdown and acid/acidity in Transformer Oils.
➢ Performing a dissolved Gas Analysis and Testing for Interfacial Tension in Transformer Oils.
➢ Analyzing for battery impendence and Infra-Red Scanning of Hot Spots in Substations as well as Performing the AFRA and M4000 Test on Transformers. Oil in water and soil analysis using the infra cal2 machine
➢ Analysis of Sugar in Urine Samples, unwanted micro-organisms in Urine Samples and analyzing Stool Samples using the direct method.
CHEMISTRY LABORATORY
➢ Preparations of reagents and samples for analysis
➢ Determination of moisture content in soil samples and pH in soil samples and water samples
➢ Determination of Exchangeable bases in soil samples (CEC-CATION EXCHANGE CAPACITY) this includes calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium using a flame photometer
➢ Determination of trace elements in soil including iron, zinc, copper and manganese using the atomic absorption spectrophotometer.
➢ Determination of available and total phosphorus in soil using UV/VIS spectrophotometer and carbon compounds in soil samples
➢ Preparation of calibrating standards for the Atomic Absorption spectrophotometer.
MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY
➢ Culturing of bacteria for inoculants and Sterilizing of instruments in an autoclave and Packaging of inoculants
➢ Determination of carotenoid in yellow and white maize including sweet potatoes using a HPLC machine
